Unless you've paid money to acquire Adobe Acrobat Standard or Adobe  
Acrobat Professional you wouldn't have the ability to "create" PDF  
files. Most folks have probably downloaded the free Acrobat Reader as  
a way to open existing PDF files. I see now Adobe now allows you to  
create PDF file from Acrobat Reader through their website but  
requires a subscription to do that.

My guess is your ability to "create" PDF files comes from Open  
Office. Mac OS X incorporated the ability to create PDF files a few  
years ago. My guess is since PDF is such a widely accepted standard  
you will see more programs with that capability.
