I've just returned from a two week stint in the Dakotas and picked up some new treasure on my way back. About a month ago a set of Maxwell steel wheels came up for auction on E-bay so I decided to place the minimum bid to see what would happen. As it turns out I ended up winning them, so know I'm trying to find out more about them (if there is any more to know). I was told by the seller that they were invented by a man in Marshfield, Wisconsin. The wheels are rather unique in that they fold up out of the way when you don't need them. Then when you get stuck, you simple open up the steel splines to give you the extra tractro you need to get out of the mud, etc. My memory seems to keep telling me that I saw an ad for these in one of my tractor books. Has anyone else every heard of these wheels?

Enjoy, Joe
