Keith,  A couple of years ago I went almost crazy trying to trace down an electrical problem until the local Case-IH dealer test the new coil they sold me.  It was bad.  So even a new coil can be bad.

I think that I got the repolarization right.  

It's a 6-volt coil and I've wondered if it needs to be replaced, but I'm not sure.

  I've been rewiring my 1948 Farmall H and have run into a snag.  After
  installing a new wiring harness, I can't get the tractor to start.  The
  engine turns, but won't start.  In the past I've replaced the plugs,
  battery, and voltage regulator...and the tractor started.  However after
  this harness...it won't start.  By the way, I've polarized the generator and
  replaced the ammeter.

  Any thoughts?
