My little Yanmar 1500 diesel doesn't have a water pump so the fan and
pulley bolt onto the alternator which in this case is bolted in the
same place. It is quite small being about the size of a heater blower
motor or a little bigger. One like it should adapt to a lot of tight
locations by using just the pulley and not the fan. Maybe hidden up
under the hood. I keep a large battery on the Yanmar since it sits at
the very front ahead of the radiator and using a heavy one helps
counter balance the 3 point stuff a bit. Even though the alternator is
small it always keeps the battery charged even when running the
lights. It is item 2 on the first picture on this page:
