Thanks for the advice, John. I plan to tear in to the brakes in the next week or so and determine what needs to be fixed.

It wouldn't cost much to get the band relined if that's all it
needs. A band on my old H broke almost 30 years ago. I brazed it
together and it still works fine...with the same lining! John W.
