Not to give your counterman an excuse but BM should be horsewhipped for 
some of the antics they have used in regard to naming autos.

Impalas - 6 different series with entirely different drive trains
Olds 98 - at least 7 series that I can think of.
Chevy Nova - three different designs with one of them actually being a 
POS import.
Plus there are a BUNCH more. Miss the year when the person tells you or 
be someone who wasn't around in those days and you can see what can happen.

Of course then you have folks who could pick out the proper parts if you 
walked in and said I need a....  They are the ones that retire when 
faced with the college help that can't tell the difference in a starter 
or an alternator...
