I would be very cautious. It sounds like a scam.

I would call the FBI to see if this is a type of scam.

Hi all,
I could use a little insight into some ruses people use to scam people. I'm
selling a car and I get a call from "Victor" who says he is in Africa. I had
a hell of a time understanding him so I asked him to email me what he was
trying to ask. Here's the email:

Quote:

Michael,
Thanks for the audience on the phone.Although, you didn't get to understand
what I was telling you. I was trying to make you understand that I am not
going to be the end user of the car. I intend reselling the car here in
Africa. So, I am looking to get a cheap car, because, I am going to take
care of the shipping cost, which I think is about $1500- $2000 and also the
duty I am going to pay for the car at the Seaport here in Africa.

Clearing a car here at the seaport is expensive.I would have loved you to
come down in your price.I am willing to pay $3500 considering my other
expenses regarding getting the car down here to Africa. You said the car is
located in Birmingham. Could you pls tell me the State Birmingham is located
in?

If we agree on the price, I have someone in the States who would come to
inspect the car on my behalf and also make out payments to you(most
probably, cash).

Pls send me an email to this effect so that we can get the ball rolling.
Also, I would appreciate if you send me recent pics of the car. My numbers
are +2348023254023,
+23412179252.

Expecting to read from you soon

Victor."

Who would want to ship a Camry with 180,000 miles on it to Africa? I know a
lot of you guys have dealt with similar issues when selling tractors, how do
you know whether the guy is a scammer. He mentions cash, but these days it's
hard to trust cash let alone a cashiers check ,which can be phony. Any
thoughts?

Thanks,
Mike _____________________________________________________________
