I am quite clueless on your engine but the copper tube makes me want to
believe someone was making a soft metal washer/gasket to stop a leak--is
that possible?
I've done it myslef on Hit-and-Miss engines that had head studs that pass
through the water chamber in the head--I used solder and it worked great.
