A pan from the junk yard should be OK. Check for flatness at the gasket 
surface, clean it up using something like carb cleaner and look for 
possible cracks, make sure the drain plug is not stuck or stripped.

Not knowing how bad the original pan was cracked, have you considered 
repatching the old pan using JB Weld? I've used it on several patch jobs 
and it works wonders. The key thing is getting the surface clean and 
roughing it up a little to get a good bond. You can apply a coating to 
both the external and internal surfaces
