Hello Gene,

I'm not sure it applies in this case but I've heard of ultrasonic
testing for cylinder wall thickness to make sure it can be done. Is
this a possibility?

I would think you'd want to make sure there was enough metal in the
block after it was bored to hold together, which might be taller than
just surviving the boring and assembly process.

Just thinking out loud.
