[Steam-engine] Case main bearing lube

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Case use oil soaked in weigh, sort
of a drip oiling affect on their mains? I believe some have added
grease zurks in lieu of oiling. I've also seen where one operator used
a combination of grease and oil mix...

Rick and Richard:
I recommend that you go and read the CASE steam engine manual.

Hello Richard,
Yes, the main caps are one of the most important places for grease. If
the caps
are gone find new ones before you start steaming the engine.

Howdy all;
Next weekend we will be steaming up the 80 hp Case at Ft. Missoula
which
runs the sawmill. Now I know this sounds dumb but I see no way to
grease
the crankshaft mains. There are two holes in each cap. Should grease
cups
be screwed into these holes?
Thanks in advance
