[AT] OT--string trimmers

Those symbols snuck in the back door when we weren't watching.  They got imported to us from other countries when electronics went global back prior to the 1970's.  They're actually the standard symbols used for logic and binary counting.  Rather than "O" and "-", they are "O" and "1" -- the symbols used for binary arithmetic.

I'd better stop before this discussion gets political.and/or controversial.
