I've followed this thread with some interest since I've never had a  
gooseneck trailer. After reading all the replies, I'm VERY convinced  
that if I ever do get such a trailer I'll ask a trailer/hitch dealer  
where the ball should be placed rather that rely on the opinion of a  
bunch of guys who may (or may not) know what they are talking about!
