Bill,

>From your description, you've also removed the Clutch Disk and are ready to
pull the Belt Pulley. I assume that you have also removed the Clutch Fork
Bearing and Clutch Fork.

If you are dealing with just a bearing rusted to a shaft, I've had success
in the past by applying a very liberal dose of Liquid Wrench, then tapping
the bearing with a small hammer (I've found that the 3 oz ball-peen works
nicely). You may need to soak overnight before tapping and may need
multiple doses. The light tapping causes the Liquid Wrench to penetrate and
hopefully help release the rust bond.

Good Luck!

Subject: [AJD] Removing clutch from a rusty old B

I have been struggling for the last three days trying to remove a clutch
from a rusty old B.

 I'm beginning to
think this is a lost cause. On the top section of page 30 of the John Deere
B parts catalog - Pulley Clutch Diagram. I have removed everything down to
the and including the second Facing Clutch. The next thing to remove per
the diagram is the retainer bearings. Things are pretty rusted and nothing
wants to give. Is there any trick to this or special tool required? Any
suggestions on how to proceed What a pain this whole operation has turned
out to be.
