Much of the state is now quarantined to the point that you can't even cross county lines with firewood. Please, Don't bring it in.

It wouldn't be the first time I lost my Ash... ;-)
Actually I have not lost any to the EAB. I have lost a couple to
lightning. I'm just waiting for the others to start dying (there is
nothing you can do so far). I have saved a number of old ones and have
planted them for years. I did lose maybe thirty of them over in Rush
County last month but tornadoes are not very selective. I don''t have a
lot of ash there. Mostly maples, cottonwood, hack berry, sycamore, box
elder, walnut and basswood. I keep hoping that they find some kind of
systemic pesticide that will stop the EABs if you spray it around the
base but I'm not holding my breath.
I lost a huge old oak tree out by the road last year. The third super
lightning strike in a couple of years was the last straw. We had a
specialist check it out about 25 years ago and he had us put about 20
special iron capsules in the trunk about chest high. At that time he
estimated its age at 250 years old. Really hated to lose that one. We
had fought the power company and the phone company both (successfully)
to save it from their cutters over the years. Now ZAP!! You are dead!!
It turns out it is hollow, going to be a b!#c# to drop.

I wouldn't mind being absent minded so bad if forgetfulness
could just be a little more selective. Just last week I
was saying so to "whats-her-name..."
