[AT] OT Chevy engine ID?

The irrigation engines were run on natural gas, which was much less
(then) than other fuel alternatives. Cost about $ 50/day. 10-15 years
ago. But, now the cost is about $150-250 per day and up. At one point we
started using diesel fuel when it was cheaper than gasoline but that is
not working now and cost about $ 250 a day. Oh the life of a
farmer--love it... but it is now best to own the land than farm it.
Hmmmmm wonder what groceries will cost in 5 years. With corn now $ 9-
$10 /cwt and wheat approaching $ 5-6 /bu you would think farming would
be a very lucrative occupation--not so because increases in prices at
the farm always lag input increases.
Guess that is why we tinker with those old tractors etc... remind us of
the "not so good ole days".

That dump truck went through about 150 gal in a 12 hour day. You can do
the
math for the irrigation.
