[AT] Profane propane prices; was Fuel prices

Looks like a nice deal.

We have 2 fireplaces and electric baseboard heat. Even with fans and tubing
that passes through above the firebox it was a tremendous waste of wood. We
installed a fireplace insert by Quadra-Fire this year - I wish we would have
done this immediately. We use a quarter of the wood with 4 times the heat
output. It is a relatively small insert, but it does a pretty good job
providing most of the heat for our home.

I have a dumb question. Looking at the literature on the website for that
heater, they state that you can use waste wood. We generate a lot of waste
plywood, both treated and untreated, in our business. I always understood
that it was not a good idea to burn scrap plywood in a fireplace or stove
because the glue and other chemicals would build up in the chimney. Is this
something that is not a problem in a setup like you have?

I had an outdoor wood burner installed when we built our new house last
year.

It heats the house and the shop, with propane for backup.

Wouldn't go back to indoor wood stoves for a million bucks.

For anyone considering installing an outside wood burning furnace, here
is a

website that appears to have all of the answers...
