I built a fence around my garden.  The dogs keep the deer out of the
yard,
and the fence keeps the dogs out of the garden.  Works out pretty good.

My Dad has 3 big dogs that do more damage to his garden than the deer
do. 
They think they have to roll and wallow to have a good time.
