Thank Mike (and others),? the one I took back was simular to the second link posted, only it was more than twice the price from Menards (didn't seem worth it).? Anyway, I'll have to check out a few of these to get the right one.? As to Farmers comment, I have a rubber hose, and even that get's pretty stiff here in Michigan (no comment), has anyone found a hose that stays flexible even in cold weather?

Enjoy, Joe

You won't find much in the way of self re-winding for more than about
50' of 3/8" hose and less than $100.

I use two different reels (for two different compressors) and find them
quite satisfactory. One is an open "basket" reel for my smaller hose,
and the other is one that is a more typical solid reel for the heavy
duty hose.

I have never had a problem with re-winding them, although I have to pay
attention to keep the hose even on the reel. I usually grab a rag to
hold the hose as I am winding, as that helps clean the oil and dirt off
(and keep my hand a little bit cleaner). It also helps to shut off the
air to the reel and exhaust the air, as that makes the hose "softer" and
easier to handle. I got both my reels from Northern Tool, but I am sure
that other places sell the same kind of thing.
