As I said before, take a short jumper wire and touch it to the Batt terminal 
on the regulater (which is battery source voltage) and to the Gen terminal 
on the regulator (which is the generator armature connection).  That will 
polarize the generator.

I agree. But what I need to know is how I would go about polarizing the
generator on my Cub.
