Most stuff from the 50's is easy to get parts for. Some of the sheet metal 
can start to get fancy and can take you down a rather expensive path of 
bodywork and painting. If the money you will be investing is a 
consideration, take a look at what is for sale that has been restored and 
see how it compares with buying a fixer-upper of the same make and model. 
There are some models that are money pits even if you are given a good solid 
running tractor to start with.
