[AT] Grease

A lot of combine gear boxes run on straight chassis grease. I seem to recall the old New Idea 2 row mounted picker (or maybe it was combine) having one mounting bolt that you removed and stuck a grease gun in the hole and pumped it full of grease and replaced the bolt. I never had a failure on any gearbox on a picker or combine in all of the years I ran them. Now the old open bevel gears on ear corn pickers were another story... Very soft stuff. We used to use an old paint brush mounted to a 4' handle to brush grease on them while the tractor ran the picker at an idle. An old garden sprayer was used with used motor oil through a drilled out nozzle to lube chains.
I don't use Slick 50 in engines but I have used the grease in gear boxes.
