Slow and steady is the best way to get it done. How are you keeping track
of the bolts? Are you threading them back in after you remove the parts or
putting them in separate containers? I've found that threading them back
in finger tight keeps them from getting lost. You also don't have to try
and remember which went where.
With respect to the bearings possible being rusted, drop the oil pan and
disconnected the pistons from the crankshaft. Then try to turn the
crankshaft. See if you can move any of the pistons by hand. Try using a
wooden block and a mallet to see if any stuck piston will give.You may
find that only one piston is giving you trouble and the others will come
out easily.
