Farmer I agree with you about privacy but this thing does have an OFF 
switch.  I promise you if you were laying somewhere where no one knew where 
to find you and in bad shape you wouldn't worry about privacy.

The bigger concern for lots of folks is the On Star in their new GM cars. 
That thing not only knows where you are, it reports where you are and keeps 
a record of how you are/were driving on the way.  Sooner or later the gov't 
will mandate those things on all makes of cars and then they'll pass a law 
that allows them to monitor your car.

There has already been a case where a guy wrecked a Corvette.  The local DA 
got papers to have the computer siezed from the car and proved he was 
running over 100 mph just before the crash.
