[Farmall] stuck clutch

Farmall guys:

I have finished restoring my 1948 Super AV but have one problem that just
surfaced as I tried to drive it. It seems the clutch is "stuck"--most
likely to the flywheel. My tractor friends tell me this happens
occasionally after a tractor has set for a long time (which mine has since I
replaced the clutch and then did all of the detailed restoration before
actually driving it. The symptom is that, with the engine running, I
depress the clutch and try to put it in gear, but it only grinds.

I have tried 2 sets of suggestions but neither has worked. One tractor
friend insists that tapping, prying, etc. through the small holes in the
torque tube (while the clutch is depressed) will free it. The other friend
suggested starting it in gear and driving, then depress the clutch and
alternate r. and l. brakes to free it. I tried it all and nothing has
worked. I'm dreading having to split the tractor again, but I'm out of
ideas unless you guys have more.

Thanks in advance.
