    I think I posted something similar not too long ago...   I try to buy 
"decent" stuff but I don't plan to keep anything too long any more. Too many 
plastic parts get brittle or shrink or swell etc. Fuel lines get weak...
    I intend to keep my lawn tractors swapped out and only plan a couple of 
years on each one staggering purchases so I don't ever have to buy two in 
the same year. Late model used stuff sells well, the stuff I kept a long 
time was worthless to resell.
    I hope to never keep a string trimmer more than two years and the same 
applies to chainsaws. I used to run them about "forever" but not these days.
    My newest lawn tractor is a Deere and that was just because I felt it 
would resell better. My new string trimmer is Poulan I believe and I have 3 
chainsaws, all Poulan. One is a Poulan Pro about 20" and the other two are 
smaller ones that I use mostly for trimming and limbing. I rarely have need 
for anything bigger but I used to think so.
