I used an old AC backhoe once that had a similar swing motor, I think it was 
based on a D17 diesel, but the tractor was pretty burried under the backhoe 
junk added on.  The swing motor was worn out, only good within 45 degrees of 
where you wanted to go.  I got pretty good at just dropping the bucket in 
the trench on the way by.

Anything you can borrow is good enough when the sewer is backed up into your 
basement :-)
