[AT] Plowing in Ohio/Long

Chisel plowing took over here for about 15-20 years before no-till put the 
tillagae equipment practically out of business.

A couple folks mentioned HP requirements. I know this varies tremendously 
with soil types. We figured mid to upper 20's per plow bottom.
8-11 hp per chisel shank--this was for the big chisel plows, not the 
category 1 hitch style. I believe the  trailer types with the curved teeth 
required more HP.

And then there were the V-rippers that came into use around the mid 80's. 
Only tobacco farmers could afford to run them. I think they took 25-35 hp 
per shank and every weight you could put on the front end. Never got to run 
one but they looked like fun.

 Of course there were the sub-soilers. One way or the other you were going 
to spend money at the parts counter if you used one of them.
