Without your service, we may not have the freedom to play with this old iron, your service touches every part of every American's life, although it may not seem like?it most of the time, it is not forgotten. I will be forever indebted to those of you who had the courage to serve and protect our freedoms.? God bless.

> Thank you all for your comments from a vet of the Korean War who realized it was not your fathers' World War II when he got off the troopship in California and found the Red Cross SELLING donuts ($.10) at the end of the gangplank. Not a comment against the R-C, just a comment on the change of attitute of the public for the "war" that was just a "police action" (with frostbite). If I hadn't enlisted, I'd be two years younger than I am--- I think... Anyway, glad I went. Thanks for remembering. Today, as I do every year, I flew the flag that covered my dad's casket as a vet of WW1. And a small flag for each of the markers around my flagpole for Revolutionary war ancestor and 2 from Civil War and one from WWI, and Korea. I just hope my grandchildren don't have to go to Iraq in a really sensless effort-- Average age of soldiers killed there is 27, according to tonighht's news, as opposed to 20 in WWII. Now they leave young families. My heart goes out to all of them. Thanks for thinking of this topic-- Carl
