I think the deal about Coke trying to "wean us off" the good stuff was
an old wife's tail. Coke really did "mess up" trying a new formula.

IIRC It tasted like flat Pepsi.....

Danny,
If you recall back around 1985 Coca Cola introduced the New Coke which
was a huge failure and then the introduction of the new Classic Coke?
Well this was all a well planned ploy to get Coke drikers away from
their old Coke and put out a planed failure interrim pop to get your
taste buds missing the old stuff. The deal was to get rid of the cane
based Coke and start bottling the cheaper corn syrup based stuff. Most
diehard Coke drinkers knew there was a difference but since there wasn't
anything to compare it to they (we) just accepted it. If you want REAL
Coke and you live near a large city with Jewish populous buy a bunch of
Passover pop when they bottle it during Passover. Around Columbus it
sells like wildfire since people have caught on to it. As my wife and I
call it, it's a real burn your throat Coke :)
