If you want really good soda drinks, buy them in Europe.  They're formulated 
with much less sweetener than what we're used to in the US.  Part of the 
reason is that they don't usually dilute them with ice the way we do, so 
they make them with a lighter flavor.  (They often drink them at room 
temperature.)  And all sugar products are more expensive there than here so 
the normal diet isn't as sweet-tasting as ours.  When I've gone to Europe as 
chaperone for college-aged tourists, one of the problems the kids run into 
is sugar and caffeine deprivation.  They had to drink two or three times as 
many soft drinks as they were used to in this country just to feel "normal." 
We ran into just the opposite problem when it came to alcoholic beverages. 
They were "under the table" on their standard diet of beer because the 
alcohol content is higher there.
