[AJD] Credit card fraud, I thought I was safe..

Today, I got a call message from the receptionist
at work on my cell phone.. 'Chris, your bank called,
they are wondering if you are out of state and
curious about some charges.. call Heidi at ....'

Hmm.. WTF?? Anyway, some person in Virginia
somehow got ahold of my Debit Card number for my
tractor account that resides in my wallet and rarely
gets used at all. I typically pay for online
transactions via PayPal or with a Visa Card, not my
debit card..

Whomever got ahold of it drained the account to
nothing.. Of course I will get the money back.. but I
have to go and fill out some paperwork at the bank,
and wait for everything to settle..

I asked the nice fellow at the bank how this could
have happened all the way across the country?
Especially when I don't use that card.. Their answer,
Someone that you have done business with it the past
more than likly got their records compromised. It
happens all the time.. And here I thought that
retailers were not supposed to keep records of such
things..

So, here it is, a holiday weekend, my account
frozen.. good thing I have to work anyway. And it
wasn't my primary account..

Be careful! No more debit card/credit card
transactions for me!! If they won't take a check, I
aint buyin' !!

         Chris
