[AT] Muffler Rust Prevention???

I have a similar situation with my F350 6.9L diesel truck. Generally, 
what happens is that mufflers rust from the inside out. On engine that 
don't get much use, the exhaust systems don't get hot enough to boil out 
the condensation and exhaust water that forms inside them, and it sits 
inside, rusting through until there is a hole that lets the water out. 
My point is that there is nothing you can put on the outside that is 
going to prevent rust from the inside. You can buy "muffler paint" from 
Eastwoods, but I don't think it will help, unless you are going to sell 
the truck the next day. :-) Frankly, I don't think, aside from 
installing a stainless steel exhaust system, there is any good solution 
to the problem.
