Andy, The 22-36 was the updated 15-30, and came out in early 1929 from what
I can find. Our friend Karl Olmstead has one of the earliest ones I know
of, with a serial number of 1002xx (if I remember right) If the serial tag
is missing, there is a number on a flat machined area just below the spark
plugs or you can crawl under the tractor and find a casting date on the
bottom of the transmission casing. On Karl's , that date is December, 1928.
So I'll make an assumption they started rolling off the line in January,
1929 as '29 models. As for the correct paint color, there will always be
some discussion on that. Most research from original tractors (not faded),
and other documentation show the widely accepted correct color to be that
darker grey with red wheels. Sometimes called Tractor Gray or Farmall Gray
or Machine Gray. Available through your local automotive paint dealer. PPG
#DAR32565, and there is a Dupont formuala but I don't have it here right now.
