[AT] "Squatters" in the Corncrib (OT)

My last un-overhauled John Deere "B" I have sits outside one of my corncribs (I use it in the fall to power my cornsheller), though it's fairly well covered from the weather.   On saturday, I uncovered it with aim of pulling the head and, subsequently, the block for an overhaul.  I noticed a large number of rodent droppings in and around the corncrib (which has been empty since early February).  Besides installing a couple of big collie dogs in the crib, how does one keep the pest population under control around drying corn?

Any suggestions will be gratefully received.
