Hi all. I don't post much anymore although I do keep up with the list
every few days or so. I enjoy all the topics and conversations - even the
"interesting" ones. Several years ago I restored a 1927 Wallis 20-30 and
received much good advice from this list. It's a great resource.

I love my old Wallis and treat it well, but I do enjoy hearing it growl.
Threshing is a nice steady load for it and so is plowing but this weekend
I got to really test it out at a tractor pull in Purdue this last weekend.
Super fun! It was a small town fair event so things were nice and relaxed.
Kind of hot though at 36C (97F) with little breeze. The Wallis performed
very well. So well in fact that I won first place in 4000-5000lbs! I was
up against a MM Jet-Star, a MM Z, Massey 201 (neat!), and two others that I
can't remember. A M-H 44 I think was one. Oh, the other was a JD A or AR.
Most of them were around the 5000lbs mark and all on rubber, while I
squeeked in at 4200lbs on full steel. Now granted, the other tractors were
all pretty well worn while my old girl is pretty much rebuilt but I'm going
to savor the moment anyway. :-) It was laboring so hard at the 150 foot
mark that both the flagman and I thought it was all over but it settled in
and grunted out another 27 feet! Finally it ran out of oomph, but it never
did slip. One for the steel wheeled guys I guess.

Some of the other machines there were very interesting. A Cat 15 and
IHC TD-6 showed up. A Ford V8 powered Minneapolis and an IHC WD-9 with
extra WD-9 trailer power-unit were cool. There was even a turbo-charged JD
AR! Dad brought his Maytag washing machine display trailer and won first
prize for it too. Good times, small town style. I took some pictures.
Click the link if interested. Have a great day!
