In my younger years I did this, all sport. I used a .22x250 with a 18 power
sniper scope ... my longest, one shot kill, 375 yards

We have had problems with groundhogs for years. Used to be a retired fellow
that went around to all the farms my uncle had rented and shot them. It was
all sport for him. He would be so far off he would use binoculars to see if
they were out. Don't know what gun he used but to me the scope looked
gigantic. He actually knew someone who ate them and would drop of the days
kill at their house on the way home.

For me, catching them in a trap baited with sweet corn is less time
consuming.
