[AT] Fuel filter question

On my Corvair the one ran to the carburetor before the turbo and the other
went to the gasoline powered heater. Man was that a fun car. DAMN Nader!!!

A friend gave me some in-line fuel filters that I hope to use on my tractors
that have one inlet on one end and two outlets (?) on the other.  One of the
outlets (?) is smaller than the other two (about 
1/4" dia.).  What is the smaller outlet for???   John W.
