3 years down the road, I always wished I had used hex bolts, so I could get
a wrench on them, just me

That was the problem I was having, everyone carried grade 8 bolts, but no
one had grade 8 carriage bolts.? I could use regular bolts, but the carriage
bolts don't stick up into the truck bed.

I don't think that TSC (here in PA) ever carried grade 8 carriage 
bolts--bolts, yes, but carriage bolts, no.
