Besides some rascal with a syphon, maybe there is a leak in the tank  itself.  It would seem that there would be "staining" on the  machine or on the ground beneath it, would it not?

Where does the gasoline go? A leak would be either around the threads in the 
tank or through the passages within the bowl itself. Problems with two 
different bowls suggests that the problem might be with the tank threads.
