Hi Folks,
I have a problem with my 601. I bought it last year in December (2005) it
ran great from then till around May. It would start and run and then under
load after it warmed up it would quit. It acted like it ran out of gas. I
made sure it had gas, checked the screen and pulled the plug out of the
bottom of the carb to make sure it had gas flow. I finally called the
dealer I bought it from and they came and got it. I was told it needed the
carb rebuilt. They brought it back and it did the same thing so back they
came. This time the head mechanic said the guy who rebuilt it did it wrong
and he re rebuilt it. He cleaned the gas tank and replaced the points and
condenser too. I got it back and it started doing good, Then a month
later it was right back to messing up again. I talked to my brother who is
a mechanic and has been all his life. He suggested I put a new coil with a
resistor built in, it was converted to 12V before I got it. I also got
some new points and condenser. I put all that in and it ran pretty
good. It has been running ok but every once in awhile it seems to "cough"
and then smooth out. Today I was out trying to plow snow. It would start
running rough and then stall. It also acted like it ran out of gas
again. It would smooth out and run and then act up again. It also seemed
to act like it ran out of gas when I would go up a slight incline. I am at
a loss. Any suggestions??
