Certainly not any expert here, Leroy.  The first thing that comes to mind 
however is the level of protection offered by each company.  Do a careful 
comparison.  Is the $2000 guy giving you a $250 decuctable while the $800 
guy is setting you up with a $1000 deductable for each accident?  One 
company may write a $1,000,000 baloon policy while the other only offers 
minimum liability and bodily injury as required by your state.  There are a 
lot of comparisons to make and decisions or just how much coverage is just 
right for you.  Once you know you are looking at apples to apples, you can 
lean toward the lowest cost if you prefer.
