If Larry's thoughts on your HD & cache don't work ...

One last thought ... try right-clicking on a single image file and choose "Open With" and then try a different image graphics program than the original one you used (or several, if you have them) to open that image. If one works, then use that one to try opening others. If those open, then all of them should, using that program.

Beyond the suggestions you've already received, I guess a true computer geek might be called in for suggestions.
