I was wrong, our natural gas runs through the house at 5-6 lbs after leaving the meter/regulator.

You're absolutely correct on that. Following the great flood of June '06 here in NY, I had to clean and thoroughly dry our NG boiler in the basement (we initially 30 inches of water down there) that feeds our baseboard heating system. In addition to cleaning the orifices, I had the gas company check the psi from the regulator.
