[AT] O.T. Earthlink DSL and Earthlink True Voice Unlimited ???

Several things to think about:

1. Is DSL truly available in your area? My area is 18000 feet from the
CO (central office) and cannot get service because of how the wires
are routed (15000 feet max). It's still being aggressively marketed
here but we can't get it because we're in an old neighborhood and the
wires aren't routed correctly. We're surrounded (literally) by folks
that have DSL access. Check to be sure they can provide the service.
Your local phone outfit should be able to do this (and likely provide
DSL if this is possible).

2. Other comments about Earthlink are mimicked here. Tech support is
in India and they aren't that good. They will continue to charge you
after service has been shut off. For simple stuff like dialup they
might be able to help. If you go to have to do something like move a
domain to another ISP you'll play hell with them. "Conveniently
incompetent" came to mind when fighting that battle. Buyer beware!

 3. I would suggest talking to your local phone company to see if you
can get DSL in your area. You might find that they can provide DSL AND
VOIP from them. If you can get DSL (but not VOIP), it opens up a LOT
of other providers. Competition is good for you and keeps the
providers in line. Whether or not you go with the local outfit is your
call and will likely be dictated by the service you've received on
your telephone service. In many cases the local outfits will be a
little more willing to help out but might not have the technical depth
of a larger organization. It varies greatly depending upon personnel,
in my experience.

Good luck.
