The Perkins? Probably not as rare as one might think - people will stick
any engine that fits into a machine, although I am not sure that a TD9
benefits all that much from having 90 hp.

I wonder? Back in the mid Sixties Dad and Grandpa bought a TD9 that had
blown the engine during the latter part of WWII. It had a belt pulley on it
and was used to run a saw mill. They had made up a line shaft with the
original flywheel/ clutch on it and mounted a large V4 Wisconsin on it. They
ran the mill for 10+ years this way. We removed the belt pulley which just
fit over the PTO.
Since it was not used for anything else the tracks and undercarriage where
new.
They had a new Perkins installed. Made for a great farm tractor to plow and
work ground. As they used the original tank for gas it had rusted bad on the
inside so we mounted a 55 gal drum out in front of the radiator along with
some additional weights for counter ballast. We did a lot of minimum tillage
type of farming before it was in fashion and used a lot of chisel plow
tillage tools. Tore several tongues out of new ones with this as the tracks
didn't allow any give when we hit the hard spots. It didn't help that we ran
them deep as we could get them in. Used it till around 1980 when my granddad
died. It was sold at his sale to a tractor jockey and I don't know where he
sold it.
Wonder if it could be the same one.
