[AT] Gear case oil: If a little is good, a lot is better?

"Well sonny, it was a cold day when my owner checked my trans oil.  It was
about a gallon low, but the oil was SO COLD that he added 6 gallons before
it could run from the fill plug to the check plug.  90W just won't run in
February".
