[AT] Case 400 update

Hi All,
Thought I'd give a quick update on the Case 400 from the Yuma
auction. I got it fired up about a week ago but the governor was stuck
real bad and it took a while to get enough time to go back into the
injection pump and figure out the issue. Apparently the way the unit
gets torqued together is very critical and it had been partially
disassembled. When I was going to take it apart to get at the stuck
shaft I found that as soon as I loosened some of the bolts, the
linkage freed up. After considerable messing with the torque of the
distributor part (which didn't help) I was able to find the magic
incantation. There is a retainer plate that has to be bolted down
correctly when the top gets torqued down or the linkage sticks. Once
that was found, I got the governor under control and it seems to run
smooth and even.
Also, I now have an operators manual that I've been reading
through. Lots of information on the controls for this beast. The
transmission also no longer makes the noise it did, now that I found
how to put the main gearbox into neutral for when you use the belt
pulley.
Now I need to lay my hands on some filter parts. The first stage
filter housing rusted through in several spots and the casting is
broken and I still need to find a second stage filter for it. The
third stage filter works well though. The fuel tank water trap is
cracked around the base of the tank and will probably have to come off
or be brazed back, it's broken loose from the tank and someone tried
to JB weld it back on. So the fuel system is in shambles, but the
engine runs and the tractor seems to be usable after I get these
things fixed.
I even got the Eagle hitch to raise and lower. I haven't used
one of them before and had to figure out how the controls work but
that wasn't too tough. Considering it was an unknown tractor from the
beginning, I've been happy so far. Now to replace that factory rice
tire with something that holds air so I can see if its driveable.

Thanks go to Gene, Spencer and the List....
