If you and Ralph decide to continue using Thunderbird there is a very
helpful third party progam that automates backups of all Mozilla
browsers and email clients:
http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/
I use it with Seamonkey (the latest version of the Mozilla Suite) -
works extremely well for me.
