If anyone were to take that route, Via 104, you would pass within 1/2 mile
of my house :-D
Even taking 90 across, you are about 30 minutes tops from me.

Wish I knew how to contact you. I'm not much of an interstate highway fan
either. Depending on how much time you've got to spend traveling there are
better ways to cross upper NY.
You could come up 89 to exit 17 and head west on US2. Watch for signs for
the ferry to NY and take it at Grand Isle/Plattsburgh.. 9 North to
Champlain, pick up 37 at Malone. Follow 37 or any of the lakeside routes
until you pick up I-81 south then bail off the interstate onto 104 at Exit
34 and run that right out to Niagara.
